Update on hearing programme
Lord Bracadale gave an update on forthcoming hearings as the Inquiry resumed this week.
He said in 2024 the Inquiry expected to conduct hearings relating to:
- the investigation carried out by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) from 6 February into early March;
- the direction of the investigation by the Lord Advocate, together with certain other evidence, from April into May; and
- race, and whether it was a factor in Mr Bayoh’s death, in June.
As hearings resumed on 6 February, 75 days of evidence had been heard.
Lord Bracadale added: “I anticipate that all the remaining evidence should be completed by the end of the year.”
A final report will be prepared and produced once all the evidence has been heard and reviewed.
Dates of the hearings and witness schedules will be published on the website in advance.
