Media advisory issued

12 January 2021

The Sheku Bayoh Inquiry recognises the significant public and media interest in the subject matter of the Inquiry.

The Inquiry began on 30 November 2020, which means evidence is being gathered and the investigation is ongoing. It is therefore particularly important that the matters being investigated are reported responsibly and with care.

We expect journalists and media outlets to act responsibly in the knowledge that misleading, inaccurate and/or speculative coverage risks undermining the work of the Inquiry.

We would ask any journalist or media outlet with information they consider to be of interest or use to the Inquiry in fulfilling its Terms of Reference to contact us via the website at In his opening statement Lord Bracadale said he expects full co-operation from all parties.
